Jean Valjean: He is the hero of the show. It is his life journey that we follow. Valjean is supposed to be stronger than other men, and so physically should appear robust. He should reasonably carry himself as mature and paternal. His ability to change is his greatest asset. The key to his character is his great humility and compassion.
This is why I can’t see Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean. While he is quite tall he is in no way a large man. They couldn’t even cast someone who fit the physical description of the lead male. They used big name actors so the movie would draw in a lot of people instead of actors/actresses are like the characters. Really pisses me off.
Seriously. Why wouldn’t Russell Crowe be Valjean??? And a blond Cosette with a brunette Eponine? This movie already sucks. And we haven’t even gotten to Anne’s voice yet.
